The Jonny Moore Formula Ford Award

Former double Castle Combe Champion sponsors a prestigious end of season award!

Ed Moore Van Dieman RF00 April 2008 winning BRDC Golden Helmet

For over two decades Ed Moore has been intrinsically linked within Castle Combe history as twice circuit Formula Ford champion 2004/2007 and winner of more FF races at the circuit than any other driver. His impressive CV also includes being twice National FF champion. A second-generation racer, Ed follows in the footsteps of Father Ian, who raced a FF Dulon in the 1970s in parallel to his day job as a farmer, while also designing and building his own Swift cars from the family farm workshops.  But it was Ed’s paternal grandfather, Jonny Moore, gentlemen farmer and 1940s daredevil and sportsman who really inspired his latest project, producing an exclusive range of chic watches that provide a hedge-against-inflation for shrewd and discerning horologists dealing in today’s capricious economy.

This elegant range of individualistic Jonny Moore watches now sits alongside Motorsport Events and Hedtec, two companies providing Track days at UK circuits and a range of professional quality helmets and accessories respectively in Ed’s portfolio of businesses. Along with his wife Natasha, Ed is keen to uphold the Jonny Moore name while remaining passionate in efforts to preserve good manners, kindness, and etiquette in today’s society. As a result, Ed has offered to provide a stylish Jonny Moore watch as a prize in the CCRC 2023 Formula Ford Championship.

The limited-edition Jonny Moore Pilote Onyx 45mm stainless steel watch, waterproof to 10 ATM, will be awarded to the CCRC FF competitor who, in the view of the judges, has exemplified the esprit de corps of the championship, and displayed key sporting values imbued in Ed by his inspirational grandfather, who was also a talented artist, musician and raconteur. Winner of the award will be chosen at the end of the season by Ed himself, assisted by Castle Combe lead commentator, Chris Dawes, a man with detailed knowledge of each championship race having called the action from his lofty aerie. The award winner will be announced at the annual awards dinner on Saturday, 18 November at the Future Inns, Bristol.
